FACT: Many of these
zero calorie sweeteners contain added dextrose produced from cornstarch,
21CFR184.1857, and maltodextrin produced from various food starches; e.g.,
corn, rice, potato, 21CFR184.1444. These are ALL classified as carbohydrates
that can significantly impact glucose (blood sugar) levels. Dextrose (cornstarch sugar/D-glucose) is utilized as a glucose (blood sugar)-elevating agent in IV fluids for treating hypoglycemic patients,
