CRITICAL ALERT
CORN-ALLERGIC CITIZENS
The
FDA declares in 21CFR184.1857 that corn sugar produced from allergenic
cornstarch (DEXTROSE) is “biochemically identical” to GLUCOSE (human
blood sugar) at the molecular level, C6H12O6.
Therefore,
the FDA declares that cornstarch is not only VOID of allergenic corn
proteins, but is 100% safe for consumption by individuals with an IgE-mediated
allergy to corn.
The
FDA also declares that cornstarch sugar (added to IV fluids as a glucose
(blood sugar)-elevating agent); i.e., DEXTROSE, is 100% safe for
injection into corn-allergic patients, since cornstarch is “biochemically
identical” to glucose (human blood sugar) at the molecular level, C6H12O6.

"Corn
sugar (C6H12O6 . . .), a/k/a dextrose/D-glucose, is produced by
the complete hydrolysis of corn starch . . ."

SUMMARY:
The
FDA advises corn-allergic citizens to ignore any websites claiming that
cornstarch is a polysaccharide, a complex carbohydrate, molecular formula C27H48O20; since the
FDA declares that cornstarch is “biochemically identical” to glucose (human
blood sugar) at the molecular level, C6H12O6, a simple carbohydrate, a monosaccharide, as
defined by the FDA in 21CFR184.1857.
