CORN-ALLERGIC PATIENTS: MEDICAL ALERT BRACELET DOCUMENTATION

CRITICAL ALERT CORN-ALLERGIC PATIENTS

In accordance with Code of Federal Regulation 21CFR184.1857, make sure your medical alert bracelets and your official medical records include the following corn-derived excipients that are utilized as glucose (blood sugar)-elevating agents in dextrose-containing IV fluids.

1. Corn sugar

2. D-Glucose

3. Dextrose

4. α-D-glucopyranose

5. Cornstarch

By listing all of these excipients on your medical alert bracelets and in your official medical records, this will also protect clinicians from potential medical malpractice lawsuits if they inject you with any of these corn-derived excipients when your IgE-mediated allergy to corn is clearly documented in your official medical records.
