Petition to Declare Corn an Official Allergen

I filed the following petition with moveon.org to appeal to Congress to declare corn an official allergen.  Please sign and share with your friends.  Thank you.

For your information, the corn allergy population cannot consume any commercially-processed meat, poultry, seafood, produce, or fruit due to government-authorized corn-derived acid washes. Even organic choices are not completely safe due to possible corn cross-contamination (corn is ubiquitous). It contaminates our tap water (corn-derived water purification chemicals), and it is difficult to find a corn-free water filtration system (I currently double-filter my water). Since corn is used as a common filler in most prescription drugs, vitamins, and supplements; many corn-allergic individuals must have their medications compounded to exclude corn (my OTC Benadryl contains corn)! My heart breaks for corn-allergic infants, many of whom have been diagnosed with "failure to thrive" due to the lack of corn-free formulas. Their physicians/dietitians cannot recommend any alternative sources of nutrition for these struggling babies, because none exist. Corn is, by far, the worst allergy known to mankind; and we need your support. I have contacted every member of Congress with our appeal. Please join our fight! Thank you very much.

Declare Corn an Official Allergen:

Since filing our petition, corn allergy statistics continue to rise at an alarming rate:
