White House All Natural Original Applesauce, Safe Trial for Me

It has been difficult locating safe-for-me, off-the-shelf corn-free foods that do not require refrigeration.  I now have two safe-for-me foods that I can pack in my to-go bag:

1.  Bananas (some corn-allergic individuals react to corn-derived gassing chemicals)
2.  White House All Natural Original Applesauce cups, non-GMO, UPC #043600001084

I suffered a severe allergic reaction to Mott's natural applesauce cups, since their ascorbic acid was derived from corn.

Note the statement:  ". . . first determine the source of the flavoring before consuming the food."

The corn allergy population must contact food manufacturers to inquire about the presence of corn/corn derivatives in their products (often added under "natural flavors").  However, many manufacturers claim "proprietary formulations;" and will not release this information to the public.  For the protection of all consumers, food manufacturers should be required to release this information--UPON REQUEST--in an effort to avoid a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction.

Contact me if a food manufacturer refuses to disclose if corn/corn derivatives are in their product(s), upon request.

Corn-derived ANYTHING (dextrose, citric acid, ascorbic acid, etc.) can be fatal to the anaphylactic corn allergy population.  Medical professionals, as well, must understand the critical difference between dextrose and corn-derived dextrose, citric acid and corn-derived citric acid, ascorbic acid and corn-derived ascorbic acid, etc.

Allergy Practices Contacted

After reading reports in our corn allergy support groups that some allergists have actually refused to test a patient for a suspected allergy to corn, or have claimed that "corn is hypoallergenic," I have forwarded corn allergy documentation to the following allergy practices throughout the United States.  We have also learned that many allergists do not include corn in their standard panel of testing, which could indicate why corn allergy statistics have remained suppressed.
